I’m an award winning freelance journalist based in Glasgow. My specialisms and interests include youth cultures, grassroots activism, left wing politics and local hip hop. I've had front page exclusive stories published by The Scotsman and Edinburgh Evening News and had bylines with various local and national publications. I'm also an experienced arts and culture writer and editor and run Scotland's leading hip hop platform. On a part time basis, I edit Conter, a cross-party site for Scottish anti-capitalists and lead an editorial board featuring academics, national newspaper columnists and political campaigners.

I’m an award winning freelance journalist based in Glasgow. My specialisms and interests include youth cultures, grassroots activism, left wing politics and local hip hop.
I have had front page exclusive stories published by The Scotsman and Edinburgh Evening News. I also have bylines with The i Paper, The National, Scotland on Sunday, Sunday Herald, The Oban Times and others.
I’m an experienced arts and culture writer and editor. As well as writing features and reviews for the likes of The Skinny, Clash and Stereoboard, I launched and co-edited The National newspaper’s music section in 2015 for 40 issues. I also covered as Entertainment Editor for Edinburgh Evening News during the festival season of 2018. My work in this area has led to media guest spots and invitations to judging/nominator panels for the Scottish Album of the Year (SAY) Award and the Scottish Alternative Music Awards (SAMAs).
Most notably, I’m a specialist on Scottish hip hop and have run Scotland Stand Up, the scene’s leading reviews blog and podcast, for several years. In 2017, I edited, produced and designed Urban Scot, the first ever bespoke magazine for Scottish hip hop music and culture. As well as writing regular features on the genre, I produce video blogs and short documentaries for BBC Scotland’s online ‘The Social‘ project.
I also write regularly on Scottish left wing politics and have been published by Huffington Post, Bella Caledonia, Red Pepper, CommonSpace and others. In addition to my freelance work, I edit Conter, a cross-party platform designed for and by Scottish socialists, on a part time basis. The site’s editorial board includes supporters of RISE, Labour, the Scottish Socialist Party, the Scottish Greens and others.
On top of journalism work, I have some experience in transcription and PR and have worked with several clients on a freelance basis. If you are interested in working together or commissioning me for a piece, please use one of the emails below.
